RWBY Unforeseen Complications Review

So, not as much to say about this episode as it's clearly just setting up for the next, if that title "Lighting the Fire" is anything to go by. Well that's fine, sometimes you need episodes like that and this episode did so while still being interesting.

I'll give Ilia credit on her interruption of Ghira's speech. While Ghira made a point about how Adam's warmongering is going do nothing but bring more bloodshed, Illia made a good counterpoint about what humans have done to Faunus without coming off as a sociopathic Nazi who only wants to kill people like Adam. Still, her argument ignores that Adam has been working with Grimm and forced his own men to work with Grimm. It will be interesting to see if Illia knows about that.

Ozpin and Oscar provided an interesting bit. Ozpin, or whatever his name is, hinted he was much older than he looked and he confirmed it here. Nice little call back to Blake's book about a man with two souls. My personal headcanon right now is that Ozpin wrote that book, or at least inspired it.

Ozpin stating he was going to train the team was a funny moment. I'm glad to finally see the show trying to do something about Ruby's helplessness without a weapon. Going by how entertaining Ozpin talked training was, it's going to be plenty fun to watch and most likely will have Ruby getting subject to a lot slapstick. Also I'm hoping we will be seeing Ruby's semblance become more useful without a weapon because so far when she's unarmed it's been all show and no power.

Weiss well, what is there to say? The Ice Queen is showing everyone that she is not going sit around and play hostage. I was expecting her to claim that the bandits were wasting their time holding her for ransom, but oh well. It will still be an interesting sight to see her break out and meet with Yang, and find out that the bandits' leader is Yang's mother.

This was a nice prelude to what looks like will be our first big action set pieces.
